Book Review: Marmaduke Duck and the Marmalade Jam

It's not often I find a delightful children's tale that I could read over and over again without ever getting sick of it. But this book sure has the X factor.

Not only is it written by a fellow Wellingtonian, but it was a Picture Book Finalist in the 2011 NZ Post Children's Book Awards too.

Mylo received it as a gift from his little daycare buddy for his birthday, and it is currently the firm favourite to be read after the bath while he's drinking his milk.

The trick with reading the book is to get into a galloping rhythm with all the rhyming and the words fair roll along off the tongue.

The illustrations are simply wonderful too and add a whole other layer of delightfulness to the book.

Here are a few snippets to tickle your tastebuds:

A dog on a jog

A ram named Sam and a lamb named Pam

My favourite line in the book!

The naughty llama trying to hide under a lily pad

If you're searching for a lovely gift to give, this is sure to be a hit with mums and dads as well as kids!

I have looked at this SO many times in bookstores and contemplated getting it for Tiny, but for some reason, never have. You've now convinced me to put it on his Christmas list!
